The first-ever series held in NJ by PokerStars – NJSCOOP 2016 had over 54 tournaments and 1.1 million guaranteed prize money, which is higher in number of events and prize money than PACOOP.
PokerStars held its biggest tournament – NJSCOOP in the US market in April 2018 with a total guarantee of 1.3 million. Nevertheless, the series guarantee prize money has come down rapidly, with the recent tournament – NJCOOP in October seeing its total guarantee drop to $1 million.
In fact, Pennsylvania is the 6th most populous state in the US with a population of around 12.8 million. Whereas, New Jersey’s population count is around 8.9 million. Hence, PA has a 30% bigger potential pool. As a result, more players participate in PACOOP compared to NJCOOP.
In addition, considering the geographical location of PA, players from neighboring states (Maryland, Ohio, Delaware, New York, West Virginia, and New Jersey) expect to travel and participate in this tournament.
Live tournament players in PA and NJ often attend events in both Atlantic City and Philadelphia. Hence, scheduling PACOOP just before or after NJCOOP rather than right alongside will allow committed tournament players to play both.
