Monmouth Park Racetrack
Monmouth Park Racetrack is one of the most important American race track for thoroughbred horse racing. It is sometimes referred to as “The Shore’s Greatest Stretch”. Monmouth Park is located in Oceanport, New Jersey, and sits less than four miles from Monmouth Beach, less than 90 minutes drive from New York City which opens up the park to a huge fan base of potential horseplayers and day trippers.
The horse racing track’s grandstand is capable of seating 13,000, while the clubhouse can seat 5,000 people.
The lightning-fast track surface, tight turns, and a short stretch makes Monmouth Park one of the most speed conducive tracks in the country.
The main dirt track at Monmouth is nice and wide at 100 feet. It is a one mile dirt oval topped off with a mixture of silt, clay and loam.
To the inside is the turf course, slightly shorter and narrower at 90 feet and 7/8 of a mile and made up of bluegrass and Manhattan rye grass.
Monmouth Park Draw Positions
Speed on the rail is an especially deadly angle at Monmouth Park. At most route distances, it holds true that the inside posts 1-3 are the best gates to break from. At a mile, however, it is somewhat of a surprise to note that middle posts 4-7 usually do a little better than the three inside gates.
Post draws Nos. 8 and outward are almost always disadvantageous in Monmouth routes on both the dirt and turf.
