It was another week of ups and downs as the playoff picture starts to take shape. The Philadelphia Eagles failed to capitalise on the Dallas Cowboys’ loss on Thanksgiving after falling embarrassingly to the Miami Dolphins and the Houston Texans gained No.1 spot in their division as they swept aside the reigning Super Bowl champions the New England Patriots. Will there be any more shocks this week? Read on our NFL Week 14 Picks!
Dallas Cowboys (6-6) @ Chicago Bears (6-6)
The Dallas Cowboys had yet another embarrassing defeat on the season as they lost to the Buffalo Bills at home despite getting off to a lightning fast start. After their early TD, they couldn’t do anything on offence or put points on the board thanks to multiple missed field goals that has led to new kickers being tried out ahead of this trip to Chicago. On the flip side, Chicago had a very good Thanksgiving as Mitchell Trubisky probably had his best game of the season as they beat Detroit. If Trubisky finds himself in similar form against the Cowboys then Dallas will have another potential loss on their hands but, actually, I can see them winning this game and covering the spread. They will have got a boost from seeing the Eagles lose to the Dolphins and Garrett knows that a potential loss here and he could be fired.
San Francisco 49ers (10-2) @ New Orleans Saints (10-2)
The 49ers put up a great show against the Baltimore Ravens and unfortunately lost through a last second field goal, but they shouldn’t let that get them down as they’ve been great all season and arguably the Baltimore Ravens are the best team in the NFL right now. They now have yet another hard game as they travel on the road to New Orleans to take on Drew Brees and the Saints and theirs 2 key factors to this game. Number 1, will this talented 49ers defence stop a truly talented offence led by a great coach in Sean Payton and, number 2, will Jimmy Garoppolo prove to be the right man in the big occasion? This season Jimmy has played well but he’s not really had a meaningful test apart from the Baltimore Ravens if he wins that’ll be a big statement. I expect that the Saints will come out on top in this one though just down to the sheer fact that they’re at home and I think that the Saints will be able to stifle the 49ers offence.
Kansas City Chiefs (8-4) @ New England Patriots (10-2)
The New England Patriots simply cannot get it going on offence and if this can’t continue if they’re to get a win over the high-scoring Kansas City Chiefs and last years MVP, Patrick Mahomes. What Brady needs is for his receivers, except Edelman, to get open. Sanu, Harry and Dorsett are just not getting the job done and their loss of Antonio Brown earlier in the season is looking like the difference between them potentially winning back to back Super Bowls. They now come up against a talented Chiefs team that is looking to find some consistency and they’ll be hoping that they can find some form before the playoffs begin. This team has all the tools to potentially reach the Super Bowl and I think Mahomes will get a win over Brady here to set them on the right track.
