Betting Preview
Kansas City is first in the AFC West, has the second best record in the league, 9-1 overall, and 5-0 away. The Chiefs are 6-4 ATS. The offense is first overall in the AFC in points scored and fifth overall in points allowed. They are in first place in points scored and passing yards. KC scores around 32 points per game and averages around 300 passing yards. The defense can be iffy at times, but they thrive in defending the pass. The Chiefs give up around 21 points per game. This team has won five games in a row and their last two games were pretty close.
Last week, the Chiefs beat the Las Vegas Raiders 35-31. It was a shootout all game long and Kansas City took the lead in the final minute. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes II went 34 of 45, for 348 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 1 interception. The team was ballsy on fourth down plays and they had plenty of help in the receiving game.
Tampa Bay is second in the NFC South, 7-4 overall, and 3-2 at home. The Bucs are 5-6 ATS. The offense is first overall in the NFC in points scored and eighth in points allowed. The offense has a strong passing game and their rushing game is towards the bottom of the league. The Buccaneers are top ten in total score. On defense, they are the best team against the rush and third in yards per play. The Bucs are 1.5 games behind the first place New Orleans Saints and they need to keep their wild card spot.
Last week, the Buccaneers lost to the Los Angeles Rams 27-24. It was a back and forth game, but costly turnovers was the difference in the game. Quarterback Tom Brady went 26 of 48, for 216 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions. Tampa got owned on total yards and passing yards. Brady had a handful of bad throws and the receivers dropped some easy passes.
Head to Head
This will be the 13th all-time meeting between the Chiefs and Buccaneers. The Bucs lead the series with a 7-5 record. Tampa Bay has won the last five games and they are 4-1 ATS. The over/under is 3-2. Tampa has averaged 28 points and KC is around 19. The Bucs have the edge in passing and rushing yards, while the Chiefs are the better completion team.
Our Chiefs vs Buccaneers Picks & Predictions
The Chiefs have had a good mix of easy wins and hard fought victories. Their last two games have come down to some fourth quarter shootouts and Mahomes was up to the task. A winning team knows how to play well in primetime and thrive under pressure. The Mahomes Chiefs have built that playing style. Brady built that with the New England Patriots and he has struggled at times to find that same mojo with his new team. His team is 0-4 in primetime games.
Even though this game isn’t in primetime, Brady just hasn’t looked consistently comfortable all season. Brady will clean things up, but he just doesn’t have the same chemistry that Mahomes has with his team. This will be a nice arm duel, but Mahomes will do more damage with his arm and the Chiefs will control the flow of the game. The Chiefs win 35-27 and cover the spread.
