Roulette is one of the most common games in the casino. It’s also one of the oldest and down the years has seen many try to adopt a roulette strategy to defeat the wheel.

Some have been more successful than others, with three strategies in particular now being commonly used by punters both in brick-and-mortar casinos and in online ones too.

Tiers du Cylindre, Voisins du Zero, and Orphelins are all useful strategies to know if you enjoy roulette. Below, you’ll find all you need to know about using them..

Voisins du Zero

Voisins du Zero essentially translates to ‘neighbors of zero’ and is a common Roulette strategy when playing French Roulette. The neighbors in this instance are the numbers that are close to the zero on the roulette wheel.

Often there will be a selection available which allows you to instantly place this bet, but if not it involves betting on a series of particular numbers.

It’s a bet that involves placing nine chips on the table, with the following bets placed:

  • One chip on the 4/7 split
  • One chip on the 12/15 split
  • Two chips on the 0, 2, 3 trio
  • One chip on the 18/21 split
  • One chip on the 19/22 split
  • Two chips on the 25, 26, 28, 29 corner
  • One on 32/35

Or of course multiples of those values. The aim of this is to cover off the numbers by the zero and boost your chance of winning.

Tiers du Cylindre

Tiers du Cylindre is a similar roulette strategy in which a third of the wheel will be covered off in a bet.

In order to play it, you cover off a third of the wheel with a range of bets, which pay out different amounts.

You place split bets on the following numbers: 5, 8, 10, 11, 13, 16, 23, 24, 27, 30, 33, 36. This will see you place six bets with each one having odds of 17/1.

The odds of winning with this wager, in which you’ll receive 18 units of your six bet, is around 32% and is a good method to boost your chances of winning.

Orphelins is another type of strategic bet that is similar to those above. However, in this case, you are covering two different sides of the wheel.

You are essentially covering the sectors of the wheel in which the two strategies above aren’t, placing bets on eight numbers with five chips.

These numbers are bet on using a mixture of straight-up bets and splits. The numbers are 17, 34, 6, 1, 20, 14, 31, 9.

The splits are 6/9, 14/7, 17/20 and 31/34, with the rest then straight up bets.

It’s useful to cover parts of the wheel and boost your chances of a win. It’s been a strategy for generations and continues to be a popular method with punters across many online casinos
