Regulators in Pennsylvania have given the green light for Sugar House to launch online sportsbook betting, the first to do so in the state.

The launch will arrive at 4pm on Tuesday June 4, 2019 with initial testing allowing for players to place sports bets between the launch time and midnight, with further testing periods on Wednesday and Thursday.

The full launch is expected on Friday with PlaySugarHouse.com the place to go to, the same address as many punters are already enjoying in New Jersey.

Users can register, but if you already have an account from playing in the Garden State you will be required to re-register as currently information can’t be passed across state lines due to jurisdiction.

The arrival of Sugar House sports betting in PA is good news for some, less so for others with the betting app currently unavailable on iOS devices due to Apple currently preventing apps that are essentially a site’s website wrapped within an app. Sugar House are said to be working on this to get the app up-and-running however.

For those with Android phones, you can download the app and with it essentially the full website wrapped into a downloadable format, you can enjoy all the odds and offers you’ll find via the desktop version.

That means plenty of free bet offers and welcome bonuses as well as live in-play betting and an expansive market that includes football betting, baseball, basketball, ice hockey, soccer, horse racing and more.

General Counsel for Sugar House, Evan Davis said, “It’s just an unbelievable day for us at SugarHouse and for sports bettors across the commonwealth.”

It’s been a long time coming for the brand who have been testing the platform for some time, putting the likes of the accounting systems and mechanisms to ensure underage and out-of-state gamblers to the test. Following successful trials, they are now ready to test them with the Pennsylvania public, becoming the first sportbook to be launched among the PA betting sites.

It’s believed this will be the first of many over the coming weeks and months, with Richard McGarvey, of the state gaming board claiming other online sportsbooks are getting closer to launch day.

What Pennsylvania is now facing is the real start of an industry in revolution. New Jersey has seen huge returns with the arrival of online sports betting, in March reporting out figures six times larger than PA. The state will now begin to catch up and as more and more arrive, the millions spent are only going to increase.
