The Match III in the US Betting Guide Golf

This will be the US third annual “The Match III: Champions for Change’. It is a celebrity golf match and this year it won’t include Tiger Woods. Phil Mickelson is back, and he beat Tiger in the first annual tournament, but lost the second annual match, when he partnered with Tom Brady. This year, Mickelson will partner with NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley. As an NBA analyst, Barkley does a lot of barking, and he will be criticizing his own golf game, because the man is just too inconsistent with his golf game. This pair will take on the returning champion and five-time NFL MVP Peyton Manning. Mannings partner is two-time NBA MVP Stephen Curry. Curry and Manning are -180 favorites and Mickelson and Barkley are at +140 as underdogs.

When is The Match III?

  • The Match III is on Friday, November 27th at 3PM EST.
  • You can watch it on TNT.

Why Curry and Manning are the favorites?

Curry is not only good at hitting long range threes on the basketball court, but he is great at hitting the long ball on the golf course. He is known as a scratch golfer, which means a player who can play to a Course Handicap of zero on any and all rated golf courses. A course handicap is how many strokes an individual player gets on a specific course based on their handicap index and the course rating.

Curry has played in the Korn Ferry Tour, which is the minor leagues to the PGA Tour. So, that is pretty good for someone who doesn’t practice his golf game all the time. Manning has a little history of making some pars and getting good drives in this Match event.

The Pick

Curry and Manning should lead from the start. Mickelson will carry the load and make things interesting at times. Barkleys wacky golf swing will be fun to watch and maybe he will make some amazing shots. Mickelson will make it close, but in the end, they will fall short. Here are some side prop bets that are good choices to make, if you don’t want to bet on the overall matchup.
